    Our Story

Where it All Began

What began as a promotion for Seminole Gunworks at a small shooting club in Florida more than 30 years ago is now one of the largest sporting clays tournaments in Georgia, with champions that have been some of the finest sporting clay shooters in the country. Part of what makes the event so special is that it’s held on land carved from one of the South’s oldest hunting clubs and it’s part of the Sea Island family. And what was once operated by Randy Mitchell is now led by Jon Kent, Sea Island’s Director of Outdoor Pursuits and … Randy Mitchell’s son-in-law. If the Seminole Cup feels a bit like a family affair that’s because it very much is.

For the last 11 years, Broadfield, A Sea Island Sporting Club and Lodge, has opened its doors for the Seminole Cup the first full weekend of March to make our Sea Island family a little bit larger for this premier sporting clays event. And we couldn’t be happier. Broadfield’s pristine 5,800 acres of wilderness sanctuary make it the perfect place for the tournament and what is normally a quiet secluded club is transformed into a one-of-a-kind event, with hundreds of staff and close to 1,000 competitors, vendors, and guests on site, many that come back year after year.

About Broadfield

To capture the serene and secluded side of Broadfield, you’ll have to come back outside of the Seminole Cup, because this is truly a place to getaway from it all. Beneath the towering live oaks and pines you’re greeted by a welcoming porch and maybe a few friendly pups. The ideal place for quail hunting, shooting, fishing, and falconry, where Broadfield’s own chef prepares incredible dishes made with farm-to-table herbs and vegetables. And a lot of soul. Reserved as a compound, with a variety of accommodations arrangements at our stunning Lodge, quaint Guest House, Guest Cabin, and charming Pool House.
